‘thoughts’

Trowa smiled softly as he looked outside. 'Another lovely day. I wonder if God, if he exists, has been doing this to help us,' he wondered, then shook his head at the strange thought. He'd never really believed in a God, but with the past few days, he was starting to wonder a bit.

After their first picnic together, he and Wufei had steadily gotten together for tea and sandwiches under the sakura tree. Though, at first, Wufei had protested angrily, not wanting to 'get out'. But Trowa, in his own way, had pushed him into it and slowly, they had both grown to looking forward to that time.

He looked back down at the cookies he was making and sighed in amusement. 'Now I'm cooking like a woman...Duo would have a lovely time with that one,' he thought in amusement.

Silently, Wufei leaned against the kitchen doorway, a slight grin inching up his cheek as he watched his friend work. Yes, friend was the right word, he supposed, for what Trowa had become. Over the past few days, Trowa had succeeded in thoroughly distracting Wufei, for a few hours at least, from his mopey moody ways. While he was partly appreciative for this, he knew that sooner or later Trowa would want to know the cause of his moodiness, and with the others arriving shortly, it would be more likely sooner than later.

But for now Wufei was amused simply by watching Trowa work. It was not enough that the green-eyed boy had been spending a lot of time in the kitchen recently, preparing for their daily luncheons, but somewhere and somehow he had gotten his hands on a bright green apron with little penguins printed all over it. Normally, the pattern would have given him a headache, but on Trowa it was simply hysterical. Rolling his eyes and giving a little sigh, Wufei stepped into the kitchen.

"Do you need help with anything?" he inquired, trying to hide the smile on his face.

Trowa glanced over, then waved a spatula at Wufei, smirking. "No thank you and don't tease the penguins," he declared with a soft chuckle. He went back to spooning out dough on the cookie sheet. "Another beautiful day, hmm?" he mused quietly as he concentrated on his cookie dough.

Wufei stared at Trowa, finding some strange interest in the way the other boy's brow furled just a bit as he focused on his cookies. "Yeah," he muttered, "Beautiful day."

Trowa glanced over in concern, then smiled softly again at Wufei. "Actually, could you help me spoon out the dough? I need to put this batch in the oven," he asked as he pointed at the oven on the other side. Wufei blinked, then shrugged and grabbed a spoon. Picking up a bowl of dough, he started scooping the stuff out onto a pan. Smirking, Trowa went about getting the cookies into the oven when the door opened and slammed shut.

"HONEY I'M HOME!!!"

Trowa snickered softly. "Duo has arrived," he stated wryly.

Wufei was too busy cursing to rejoice. Duo's loud entrance had startled him and he was now wearing most of the dough that he had been holding. Trowa glanced over as he heard the cursing, then stifled a snicker as Duo came in, grinning widely. "Hey all!! Miss me?!" the braided pilot called cheerfully. He cocked an eyebrow as he took in the scene. "Are we starting new fashion trends?"

Wufei glared at Duo, veins bulging out of his forehead. "Yes, and we think you'd look wonderful with this spoon shoved up your ass!" Wufei screamed as he lunged for the American, dough-covered spoon in hand.

Duo yelped as he dodged the Chinese man nimbly. "Whoa, whoa, WHOA!! What did I do?! Aw come on Feister!! I didn't do anything!!" he protested as he tried to escape. Trowa snickered again as he went back to putting the cookies in the oven and on the cookie sheets.

"Do NOT call me that!" Wufei yelled, finally tackling Duo to the ground. The two wrestled on the kitchen floor, splattering cookie dough all over the place, until a quiet voice interceded.

"What's going on?" Quatre asked, yawning and stretching his arms over his head. Groggy blue eyes blinked a couple times and looked around the messy room, finally settling on the sticky, sugary pair of boys on the floor. "Oh, so you're back."

"Hey Q-man!! You just get back too?!" Duo replied cheerfully underneath Wufei as he waved up at the sleepy blond. He then grinned at Wufei, almost leering. "Well, well, Wufei...didn't know you liked top," he commented coyly, his voice deep and seductive. Trowa snickered, almost snorting at that one as he put the spatula down so he could laugh.

Wufei's face went red. "Maxwell, you pervert!"

"Yea and?" Duo asked sweetly as he smiled up at Wufei. "I don't see you moving!" he said cheerfully. He grinned as Trowa laughed out loud at that before muffling it. Quatre giggled quietly, barely covering his smile with a hand. Growling, Wufei got off of Duo and stood. Brooding, he crossed his arms and leaned against the countertop.

Shaking his head and smiling, Quatre looked at Duo again. "Actually I got in early this morning. I was sleeping like a log until you showed up." Quatre winked coyly at his friend.

Duo blinked innocently up at Quatre. "I'm HURT Q-man! Are you accusing me of waking you up?!" he cried in a mock shocked voice, and then pouted as he leaned up on his elbows.

Trowa snickered, then sighed as he glanced at Wufei. 'Looks like our quiet time is at an end,' he thought and felt an uncharacteristic flash of sadness enter him before leaving him.

As if feeling Trowa's eyes on him, Wufei turned to look at the green-eyed boy. There was a flash of something between them, and suddenly Wufei realized that their time alone had come to an end. Wufei's eyes shifted to the ground and he pushed off from the counter. "I'm going to get cleaned up," he said, walking slowly out of the kitchen.

Noting the sudden change in Wufei's attitude, Quatre looked at Trowa with confusion and concern. "Is something wrong?" he asked.

"No Quatre...nothing at all," Trowa replied smoothly, going back to making his cookies.

Duo looked from where Wufei had gone to Trowa, then up at Quatre. He cocked an eyebrow then sighed. "I'm going to get cleaned up to. By the way, Tro...the cookies smell wonderful!! Can't wait to have some!" he declared cheerfully before getting up and bounding out.

Trowa didn't say anything, but his first thought had been 'They aren't for you.'
