'thoughts'

"Oh WOW! That was so cool!!" Jenna's ecstatic voice floated out over the windblown field that they walked upon from the Stargate. She bounced excitedly next to Sam as she looked around. "Oh it looks so much like Earth! But so much cleaner!" she whispered excitedly to Sam, who grinned at her.

"O'Neill. I have found the MALP," Teal'c called out as he stood near the scout as he glanced around. He suddenly whirled around, staff weapon open and charged as they all heard a voice.

"Welcome, Children of Arda. Or in your language...Earth." They all turned to see a small group of people that were dressed much like the one that had greeted their scout, with that one in the front, hands held out in greeting. "Welcome...to Valinor."

"D-did you just say Valinor?" Daniel stuttered in disbelief, tilting his head at them as he went closer.

Smiling softly, the lead greeter nodded calmly as he folded his hands before him. "Indeed, young one. My name is Ecthelion. I am the leader of the Beriatheryn." He smiled softly as he saw the confused looks. "Ah, in your terms…the Guard Eagles. We watch over our realm and especially the Gîlannon…or the Stargate as you call it."

"I don’t believe this! I thought it was just…fantasy!" Jenna whispered in shock, eyes wide and sparkling with amazement.

"You thought what was fantasy, Jenna Carter?" Teal'c asked in curiosity as he cocked his head while relaxing his staff hold slightly.

Jenna turned to him, smiling brightly. "One of our greatest fantasy authors, J.R.R Tolkien wrote of a world that was…well, Middle earth! Or Arda as…as Ecthelion just spoke of!" she explained excitedly, cheeks flushed with excitement.

"Indeed? It would seem that such a fantasy is indeed real. Would you not agree Daniel Jackson?" Teal'c asked in curiosity as he looked over at his friend.

"Yea um listen. Ecthelion?" Daniel turned distractedly from Teal'c and came closer to the group that had greeted them. He stopped as he saw the softly pointed ears and swallowed. "Wow…this is real…" he murmured, not really seeing the amused glances passing between the greeters.

"Aye it is, friend. We have much to speak of," Ecthelion replied with a smile. He tilted his head in a bow. "If you will follow us, we shall take you to Tirion, for we have been expecting you for quite some time," he added as he turned and gestured for them to follow while his fellow guard turned and walked swiftly for the trees.

"You have?" Daniel asked, looking just as stunned as the rest of the group as they hesitantly followed Ecthelion and the other guards. He trotted up to Ecthelion, eyes nearly shining in his excitement. "How did you know about us? Were you really on-on Earth?" he asked rapidly, nearly stumbling next to the inhabitant of the new world.

"Oh aye, young one. We were there many Ages ago," Ecthelion replied with a warm smile as he glanced at Daniel.

"Why did you leave?" Daniel asked in curiosity.

Eyes darkening with remembered horrors, Ecthelion looked ahead once more. "The Goa'uld had taken over one of our beloved Valar. He had wreaked havoc upon all of us on Arda before finally being defeated. We began moving from Arda once we saw that Man would indeed survive, for our love of the world had gone." He sighed sadly, eyes dimming in memory. "Many people were lost of the Eldar."

"Elves." Ecthelion looked over at the bold statement and smiled warmly as Jenna came up, eyes shining. "You were called Elves as well! Oh this is like a story coming true!" she exclaimed in excitement as she turned towards her cousin.

"Correction…it *is* a story coming true," Teal'c corrected with a hint of a smile as they walked along.

"Yea so um…tell us how you knew we were out and about," Jack questioned casually as he looked around at the lush forest, hands nonchalantly resting on his gun.

"The Valar told of us of your explorations. We have been waiting anxiously to meet you," Ecthelion replied warmly as he turned his gaze over to a skeptical looking Jack. "You doubt our intentions, young one. But do believe that we are sincere," he affirmed softly, smiling. "We have much that we can share between our races once again."

"Such as?" Jack inquired jauntily, cocking an eyebrow over his sunglasses.

"You are indeed a man after my own heart, young one. Protective…skeptical…indeed a trained warrior," Ecthelion mused out loud, smirking as Jack tilted his head and pushed his sunglasses down a bit to give him a 'look'.

"Yea ok…so, answer my question," Jack demanded softly, stopping.

"What is your name, young one?" Ecthelion instead put forth, grinning as Jack sighed in exasperation.

"Fine! Name's Colonel Jack O'Neill. That's Teal'c, Major Samantha Carter, Doctor Daniel Jackson, and Doctor Jenna Carter. Happy? Now answer my question!" Jack snapped out, losing patience with the counter questioning.

Laughing softly, Ecthelion stopped before a tree and bowed his head to Jack. "I thank you, young one. I needed to distract you for but a second longer until I could show you," he praised teasingly, smiling reassuringly at them as he waved his hand in front of the tree. It suddenly shifted, trilling softly as its branches parted and the signs of incredible technology peeked out. "My answers for you are here. We have a protective shield that cannot be penetrated and keeps our planet off of Goa'uld sensors. We are willing to share it with you if you are willing to help us," he explained, beaming at them as they all but gaped at the advanced technology.

"I don't believe this! Look look, Sam! There is nanobyte technology mixed alongside some biological technology! And then there is the shield's generator! Oh wow!" Jenna crowed as she moved in, looking at everything in excitement.

Sam grinned widely as she joined her cousin along with Teal'c. Jack frowned at Ecthelion as the Elf held his gaze serenely. "What's the catch?" he muttered in distrust.

"I think I shall allow my superiors to tell you. But I assure you…it will be well worth your interest," Ecthelion replied softly, smiling warmly. "Come. We must not dawdle," he ordered lightly and ushered the explorers from the shielding equipment before hiding it once more in the tree. He turned and continued their trek towards the city, smiling serenely as the five talked softly amongst themselves.

Soon, they came out of the forest and stood on a large bluff that looked over a valley. Ecthelion smiled as they all stopped and stared in silent shock. “Behold Tirion of Eldamar, home of the Eldar,” he declared grandly as he swept his hand out, encompassing the valley.

“Holy cow,” Daniel whispered softly as they stared at the vista before them.

The valley was greatly forested with five waterfalls pouring in the south and to the sides. A large river ran through the valley, keeping it lush with its fertile rapids. But the city was what held them. Spiraling arches of stone brushed with the trees and even merged with them as well as columns of marble. The roofs gleamed golden from the sun, tinted with rainbows from the mists of the waterfalls, while statues, bridges, and sweeping staircases connected the buildings. The tallest of the towers shimmered near the waterfalls, casting a soft light over the entire valley.

Ecthelion beamed at the stunned humans as they took in the beauty. “Come. We are expected,” he said softly and led the way down a sparkling staircase, which turned out to be made of crystal.

“This is absolutely incredible! It’s just like the story!” Jenna whispered softly, as if fearful of disturbing the peaceful air of the valley. She tilted her head as she saw a sentry in the trees, watching them go by.

“Do not fear. They know you are friends,” Ecthelion said as he saw her gaze’s target. Jenna flushed and looked down and he chuckled. “You would not have seen him if you were not safe,” he added reassuringly.

“You guys sure are confident,” Sam commented softly as she looked around, taking in the architecture as they went into the city.

"Do you believe we should not be?" Ecthelion asked in curiosity as they went down what appeared to be the main thoroughfare.

"With the Goa'uld out there? I don't think you have anything to be confident about," Jack said nonchalantly as he looked around, wrinkling his forehead a bit at the style.

"Why do you believe so, Master O'Neill?" Ecthelion queried, his voice wry with amusement as he smiled at them.

"They've been on a rampage for quite some time. I don't think you'll stand a chance with them with just bows and arrows," Jack replied sarcastically as he looked over at the Elf.

"We do not fear them. We are protected," Ecthelion replied easily, smiling.

"By what? Your gods?" Jack sneered in distaste, nearly growling.

Tilting his head slightly as he stopped, Ecthelion faced them. "You do not believe in their aid?" he asked in interest.

Sighing loudly, Jack looked around, frowning darkly. "Look, I've been to so many worlds and seen these supposed gods all the time! They're nothing but a bunch of snakes in human clothes! What's to say these…" He frowned, trying to remember the name.

"Valar?" Ecthelion offered helpfully, smiling.

"Yea them. What makes you think they aren't just some aliens that are posing as your Valar?" Jack questioned intently.

"Tell me, Master O'Neill…have you ever met your God? The one of your people's Scriptures?" Ecthelion asked after a few seconds of silence.

"No why?" Jack replied, exasperated.

"Then how do you know he was real? That he came down to be amongst your people?" Ecthelion questioned as he tilted his head again, smiling softly.

"We have, um records that Jesus was among us," Daniel put in, looking confused as he looked around.

"Ah, but have you walked with him? Talked with him? Shared stories with him and been called friend?" Ecthelion asked in rich amusement.

"Should we have? And what's this about? Don't tell me you have," Jack asked flatly, glaring.

"Aye…I have. Come along young ones," Ecthelion replied lightly, smiling at their surprised confusion as he led the way to the tower they had seen in the distance.
